Why compress images
Large images slow down web pages, fill up storage, and are hard to email or upload. Compressing an image removes redundant data so the file gets much smaller while the picture still looks sharp.
How to do it in your browser
Open the Compress Image tool, drop in a JPG or PNG, and move the quality slider. The new file size updates live. Most photos drop 60 to 90 percent with no visible difference, and nothing is uploaded to a server, so your images stay private.
Tips for the best result
Start near 80 percent quality and lower it until you notice softness, then step back up. JPG usually gives the smallest size for photos; keep PNG for graphics with flat colours or transparency. Resizing a very large image first makes the file even smaller.
